My Top Three Favourite Podcasts

LISTENING GUIDE

New Podcasts You Need To Be Listening To

What’s up fellow Podcast lovers! It has been a few months now since I’ve put together a list of my favorite Podcasts, but it’s honestly because I wasn’t loving any that I hadn’t already talked about. Thankfully, some of my favorite OG YouTubers heard my predicament and released some brand new ones. The following three podcasts are all started by YouTubers, which I think truly showcases the platform’s expanding influence. However, they’re slightly different than any podcasts I’ve listened to before. Most of the podcasts I’ve mentioned in the past have all followed the same structure, an interview style with a different guest every week. The following podcasts I would describe more as unfiltered chat sessions, talking about everything from today’s biggest topics to life lessons. They’ll all leave you either confused, pondering life’s biggest questions, or in stitches from laughter. Check them out below!

Crash on my Couch – Arden Rose and Will Darbyshire

Crash on my Couch is perfect if you’re still trying to navigate your way through your twenties, with Arden and Will passing on some great life lessons they’ve learned the hard way. However, you don’t have to be in your twenties to get something out of this podcast, they literally talk about everything, and I mean everything. Some topics include the Pixar conspiracy theory, bad dates, nude performance art, and penis transplants — yes you read that correctly, penis transplants. The pair is only five episodes into their debut podcast and they’ve already found a natural rhythm that keeps you listening and intrigued.

Don’t Blame Me! – Meghan Rienks

If you haven’t been graced with the blessing that is a big sister then this is the podcast for you, because Meghan serves big sister advice like a pro. The advice-based podcast has listeners call a number and leave a voicemail with the details of the issue they are seeking advice on. If you’re thinking to yourself, “who is this Meghan Rienks and what makes her qualified to give life advice?” The following statement from the description of the podcast should sum it up for you: “Questionable advice from a fellow work in progress.” So, it’s not going to be perfect professional advice but it is going to be real and candid; sometimes a little raw honesty is what you need. With two episodes under her belt, Meghan has already weighed in on sending nudes, what to do if you’re bad at sex, and drunk texting your ex.

Lets Make Mistakes Together – Philip DeFranco

Philip DeFranco has made a name for himself on YouTube as the reliable source for news and trending topics, so it’s no surprise that he would start a podcast. Although Philip does feature a different guest every week, it isn’t heavily based on an interview style. It’s more like two old friends catching up and talking about the weird stuff we’re all guilty of discussing. You never know what you’re going to get, with previous topics of discussion being masturbation, jealousy in a relationship, falling asleep in a jacuzzi, to even his wife coming on for an episode just to embarrass him. Also, with it being started back in 2015, there are plenty of episodes for you to catch up on while you wait patiently for new content to be released.

Sharing Three More Of My Favourite Podcasts

In my previous Listening Guide, I listed my top three podcasts, which were funnily enough all started by YouTubers. It was the hardest thing trying to narrow down my favorite YouTuber podcasts to just three. So I’m back, and I’m bringing you another set of my favorite podcasts all started by YouTubers! They are just as funny, just as sarcastic and more importantly, just as sassy! Check out more of my all-time favorite podcasts below.

Kingsley’s Overexposed
Kingsley
sky rocketed to internet stardom with his highly successful “Things I Hate” videos, with one even being shared by Ashton Kutcher himself. Kingsley quickly made a name for himself as a sassy, tell it like it is, eccentric personality, so naturally he started a podcast encompassing all of these things. Overexposed was premiered in early 2014 and features 19 episodes with co-host Ale, the podcast was highly successful and was met with rave reviews, leading Kingsley to start his newest podcast #deceased with Miles Jai. Both podcasts are the perfect unfiltered gossip session with some major #shade throwing, making it perfect entertainment. One of my favorite episodes is from Kingsley’s earlier Overexposed days with special guest Tyler Oakley. The episode talks about everything from that year’s Billboard Music Awards to Tyler’s love of ranch, it’s a total sass overload.

Ingrid Nilsen and Cat Valde’s Ladies Who Lunch

Sometimes we get super busy and the first thing to get cut from our schedule are those long lunches (or dinners) with girlfriends. Not to fear, Ingrid Nilsen and Cat Valdes are here to help with their brand new podcast, Ladies Who Lunch, giving you your fix of a girlfriend gossip session. Both Ingrid and Cat have very open and honest YouTube channels, so it’s no surprise their podcast follows the same theme. They talk about topics you’re usually only comfortable talking about with your closest girlfriends, like sex, relationships and our bodies, all with a sense of humor of course. My favorite episode to date has to be Our Bodies, Our Stories, which sees both ladies talking about their personal relationship and experience with their body over the years, and it is too #relatable. However, I do have one tip, maybe listen to this podcast in private. The amount of times I’ve yelled, “Me too girl!!!” is embarrassing.

Jenna Marbles and Julien Solomita’s aptly titled Jenna Julien Podcast

Jenna Marbles has basically become one of the internet’s most well-known names, with 16 million subscribers and counting. With such a huge following, a natural next step is starting a podcast, and that’s exactly what she’s done with her boyfriend and fellow YouTuber, Julien Solomita. The podcast, while still hilarious, also sees the two discussing some current issues and pop culture news. My favorite episode to date includes two of my favorite things, alcohol, and a game, naturally. Both Jenna and Julien were already a few drinks in when they started playing “2 Truths 1 Lie,” you can probably guess the hilarity that ensues.

Sometimes you just need a good laugh! If I’m not listening to a bomb dance playlist (dancing around like an idiot), I’m usually listening to one of these podcasts. In our previous MISSBISH Listening Guide, Maria Mora featured three great podcasts that are inspiring to many people, myself included. My top three podcasts are of the other kind, they are crude, sarcastic, hilarious and above all, full of sass.Below are my three favorite podcasts, which all happen to be started by YouTube personalities.

Shane and Friends with Co-host Jessie Buttafuoco

YouTube personality Shane Dawson started his podcast back in 2013 and it has been killing it since the first episode. Shane, along with his co-host Jessie Buttafuoco, talk about everything and anything, add a special guest every episode and it’s no wonder the podcast is so popular. To say the duo have no filter would be an understatement, some of the things that come out of their mouths will have you in stitches for days. My favorite episode to date would have to be with fellow YouTube personality, and Shane’s best friend, Drew Monson, the personal stories have you cringing and laughing at the same time.

Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig

Grace Helbig is a best selling author, YouTube personality, and as of 2014 a podcast host. ‘Not Too Deep’ is everything Grace is known for – dry, saracstic humor. Each episode is centered around an interview with a special guest, most of the time it’s fellow YouTube personalities. With 65 episodes and counting, it is almost impossible to pick a favorite. But, if I had to, it would be one of Grace’s first episode’s featuring Flula, a German DJ, comedian and YouTuber, who you may know from Pitch Perfect 2. The episode is full of proper belly laughs, not surprising when the first question Grace asked was, “Do you ever think plaid is just over-opioniated stripes?”

PsychoBabble with Tyler Oakley

Tyler Oakley’s short 30 minute podcast is eveything the title says it is, PsychoBabble! Every episode is perfectly unplanned, with no particular direction in mind, making it the perfect cluster-f*ck of hilarity. Each episode features Tyler, along with his best friend Korey Kuhl, describing it as “an unfiltered gossip session with pop culture scrutiny.” Some episodes also featured a special guest, leading to my favorite episode of all time titled, ‘The Fan Fiction Murderer’, featuring fellow YouTuber Mamrie Hart.
